Agriculture is an important sector in any economy. It contributes to the economy in many ways thereby helping the government of a particular country raise revenues in terms of doing exports of raw materials like rubber, palm oil, wool, and finished products such as aquatic animals i.e. fish, shrimps, crabs. It also provides food for its citizens and also create jobs. It balances the foreign exchange of a country.

In most underdeveloped countries, Agriculture is the biggest employer, like Liberia with over seventy percent of its citizens employed in Subsistence farming / semi subsistence.

Job creation in Agriculture comes about when a country is into mechanized farming for export, eg: Firestone in Liberia.
Once the value chain for a particular product is established, it leaves room for investment which in turn create employment – which will be provided for laborer both skilled and unskilled.

As a country, I believe we can do well if we invest more in Agriculture and empower local agriculturalist.
